Fourth Grade Musical - Decemeber 1

Dear Fourth Grade Families:

On Thursday, December 1st you are cordially invited to attend your child’s final grade level program at DPES.  Warm-up will begin in the gym at 6:15 p.m., with the performance starting promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. The musical titled "Dear Santa” is a collection of songs centered on the Christmas wishes of one family. Performers will need to wear holiday shirts or holiday colors (i.e. red and green) with long pants or jeans (holiday dresses and skirts are allowed). If possible, also have your child bring one necktie (any style) to use as a prop.

One final request, please encourage your child to fully participate in this event.  We want them to enjoy and remember their last time to perform with their DPES friends.  If they know you are looking forward to the show we think it will encourage them to do their very best.  Thank you for your time and support. See you December 1st at 6:15 p.m.

P.S. Volunteers are needed to decorate our stage for the program. If you can spare even a small amount of time, please contact us as soon as possible.

The Second Rotation of Music

Fourth - Has started learning songs from the musical "Dear Santa" in preparation for their grade level program on December 1.  This will be a great farewell performance for our oldest DPES children.  Save the date, more info to come!

Third - Expanding their knowledge of rhythms to include those that extend past one beat in value (half notes & whole notes) and continuing with melodic patterns that include do.  They will also be exploring the absolute pitches (G-A-B) as we prepare for playing recorders in the spring.

Second - Practicing patriotic music in preparation for their Veteran’s Day Program on November 10.  Warm-up starts at 6:15 p.m. in the gym, with the performance beginning promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Please have your child wear any combination of red, white, and blue and long pants/jeans (dresses/skirts are allowed). Volunteers are needed to decorate the stage for the program.  Please contact  angelamathes@tomballisd.net if you are available to help.

First - They are continuing with singing games and activities that reinforce steady beat along with rhythm vs. beat practice.  Also performing more melodic examples that prepare them for the labeling of s-m patterns found it traditional children's songs (i.e. Rain, Rain).

Kinder - Building their musical repertoire with children's songs, folk songs, and singing games.  Continuing to lay the foundation for feeling the steady beat as they look at musical comparatives such as high/low and loud/soft.

Choir families just a reminder that there is NO choir practice this week.  Enjoy the break, we will see you again Monday, November 7

On Saturday, October 22 the choir has been invited to perform two songs at the DPES Fall Festival. Choir members need to meet at 4:45 p.m. in Mrs. Mathes's room (Music 1). We will be in uniform for this special event. The choir uniform is our red choir shirt, black pants or black jeans, black socks, and mostly black shoes. Girls with long hair need to have it pulled back for our performance.  Thank you!

Fall Festival is this Saturday!  Be sure and visit the "Teacher Date" item for Ms. Ricks and myself at the Silent Auction.  Win the chance for two children to join us at the Tomball High School production of "The Little Mermaid" on Decker Prairie Night Friday, November 11.

Choir Parents - Choir Shirt Order

Dear Choir Families,

It is time to order choir shirts.  This is the same red polo shirt with black treble clef that we have been using for the past several years.  If you do not have this shirt you can order online at…

http://bluewaveapparel.com/dpeschoir/

Please order as soon as possible as there is a limited window to purchase.  Also note that your child needs full length black slacks/pants or full length black jeans, black socks, and mostly black shoes to complete the uniform.  They will tuck in their choir shirts for performances, so no leggings please.  If you have questions or concerns please contact us.  Have a wonderful weekend!
