Reading-We will review nonfiction.   
Writing-We will write expository writing samples and self check our writing skills.  Math-We will compare and order numbers up to 100.  We will represent a given number in many ways.      
Social Studies-We will identify/explain/create maps.  
Science-We will explore rocks and soil.  
January 28th-February 1
Reading-We will restate the main idea and find details to support the main idea.  
Writing-We will write expository writing samples.   
Math-We will represent numbers up to 120 using standard and expanded form. We will begin comparing numbers up to 100.      
Social Studies-We will identify Texas landmarks. 
Science-We will identify natural resources.
January 21st-25th 
Reading-We will find the main idea and details in nonfiction texts.  
Writing-We will write expository writing samples.   
Math-We will represent numbers up to 120 and begin our place value unit.    
Social Studies-We will identify Texas historical figures.  
Science-We will review day/night, sun/moon and clouds in order to prepare for our unit test.   
January 14th-18th 
Reading-We will become familiar with nonfiction text features. 
Writing-We will write expository writing samples.   
Math-We will review data and take a unit test.    
Social Studies-We will describe Texas symbols.   
Science-We will explore night time and the moon.  
December 17th-21st
Reading-We will complete a variety of reader's responses.  
Writing-We will write letters.  
Math-We will collect and sort data.  
Social Studies-We will continue learning about Christmas around the world.  
Science-We will finish our weather unit.

This is an exciting year! You and your child have access to a new program called ReadyRosie through email or text.  It is packed with meaningful activities that you can do at home to support your child’s learning.  Through this program, you will discover activities and games by video, that you can play related to classroom learning.  You will be able to have more fun than every with your child through meaningful interactions. 

 

Please be on the lookout for a letter in your Wednesday folder that will ask you to complete the bottom with your name and address. By completing this form, you will be giving us permission to enter your address into the system so you may get the awesome emails from ReadyRosie, assigned by the teacher.  You will be unable to receive the emails until you return the completed form.

Social Studies-We will discuss what makes a good citizen and how to be one at home, in school and in our community.
Science-We will classify objects based on measurement.

Reading-We will develop strategies to figure out tricky words and retell the stories we read.
Writing-We will begin writing personal narratives. 
Math-We will solve addition and subtraction word problems.   
Social Studies-We will discuss authority figures in our home, school and community. 
Science-We will continue exploring measurement.

Grandparents for lunch 11:40-12:10 
Reading-We will practice fluency and continue building good reading habits  
Writing-We will use tools that help us become better writers. We will also focus on where writers get ideas. 
Math-We will take out 1st unit test and begin problem solving.
Social Studies-We will discuss rules/laws/expectations.
Science-We will continue exploring different items and identify their properties.
