Raz Kids has a great collection of books! The books are tailored to your child's reading level! If they read all the books in the Level Up sections, the website will automatically up their reading level to the next one! Please use this site over the summer....I will be able to keep track of my sweet students over summer and see who reads the most!!!!

Myon is another great collection of resources for books. This site has a search bar to search for books of interest. It also reads to your child. 
Once you click on Sign In, scroll down and click on the white link that says "sign in using Clever." Then, you might have to find our school Decker Prairie Elementary School (Tomball School District), and sign in with Google. If they have to sign into Google, tell them that it is the same username and password that they use in school to sign in to their computer.

Let's Rock our Lexia Usage!

Lexia is an amazing program that is proven to show growth in students reading levels, comprehension, word study etc......
Students are expected to get 12 units a week and they earn a prize from me.  So let's show our support using Lexia and Rock our usages!

Our Week of Learning March 29th - April 1st

Students have access to lessons through Schoology.  I have lessons, independent work, and stations for students everyday.  If your child will be absent, students can stay on task by logging in and completing assignments.  Please remember to send a note for the days your child is absent.


We are working on Poetry and its characteristics.  Here is a link to our anchor chart with the characteristics.

Social Studies: Technology and Human Environment Interaction: Communication, Transportation, & Recreation.

Science: Objects in the Sky: Moon Phases, Sun and Shadows, Day and Night, stars and constellation.

We will have library in 2 weeks on Wednesday. April 7th.

PE is every Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday. Tennis Shoes please.

Hi and Welcome to my Web page!  My name is Karen Stevens and I teach 2nd grade at Decker Prairie Elementary!  Go Cougars!!!  I am excited about the 2020 - 2021 School year!  This is my 3rd year here at DPES; however, my 10th year teaching.  I have taught Kindergarten, 4th Grade, and 2nd Grade.  I also was an Instructional Paraprofessional before receiving my teaching degree at the University of Houston Downtown.  Due to my passion for learning, I earned my Masters Degree at Texas A&M in College Station.  Whoop! Whoop!  In addition, I am a mom of 3 amazing boys and I have been married for over 20 years to my husband Scott. Our family would not be complete without our Boston Terrier Jake!  I love anything Boston Terrior.   I have lived in the Tomball/ Magnolia Area since 1998, and before that, I was in the Air Force at Kirtland Air Force in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
