Home/Library News

Hi everyone! My name is Mandy Watson, and I am your child's librarian at Decker Prairie Elementary. This will be my 16th year of teaching and my 10th year as librarian. I look forward to visiting your child's classroom to read a story and/or to teach a lesson (for both our face-to-face and virtual learners) along with helping them find books they will enjoy reading. I hope my lessons and stories I read them will inspire a love for reading and learning in your child!

Look around this site to learn more about our library. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Enjoy learning and reading!

Folktale Fun Friday-11/20/20

Folktale Fun Friday: Friday, November 20th

It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Handmade and/or bringing simple props are fine!

Please be sure to follow our district’s dress code expectations. This is for our virtual learners too!

Here are some examples:

  • You can wear a read jacket/hood and be Little Red Riding Hood
  • Wear bunny ears to be the Hare from the The Tortoise and the Hare
  • Bring a bowl and be Goldilocks from Goldilocks and the Three Bears
  • Dress as an old woman and be The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe
  • Dress as an old man and be This Old Man
  • Bring a bag or can of beans and be Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk
  • Have pig ears and a nose and be The Three Little Pigs

(We are not having a parade, just a fun reveal after giving one another clues)
