Third Grade Music Event

It is recorder time! The recorder is a beginner woodwind instrument that all third and fourth grade children play at DPES.  This is the same recorder and book combination we have used for many years (Yamaha recorders and yellow recorder book). If your child already has a recorder please make sure it is labeled and send it to Mrs. Mathes.  If they do not have a recorder, please use the links below to order. Every child must have their own recorder, but can borrow a book in class if necessary.

Recorder and Book - $12

Recorder only - $6

Book only - $6

Please do not purchase recorders from the Dollar Store, Walmart, etc., as their sound quality and tuning will not match the instruments we can order.  Thank you for your time and continued support.

Thursday, April 12 is the first grade music program. During the show titled “Spring is Here” the children will sing songs celebrating the arrival of spring.  Your child may dress as a small forest animal (i.e. squirrel, bunny, bird, etc. – painted faces are okay) OR flowers (i.e. wildflowers) OR in bright spring colors.

Please feel free to keep it simple, we do not expect anything elaborate. Our priority is that every child attend and costume is secondary. A bright spring shirt with pants/jeans or dress is absolutely fine. It is also okay to be any type of small woodland animal, an insect, or springtime flower. This could be as simple as wearing all white and painting a face to look like a bunny. If you have any questions or concerns please e-mail or call we would be glad to help.

Send your child to the gym at 6:15 for warm-up; the performance will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, April 12 at 6:15 p.m. for the show.

DPES Children's Choir Performs

Choir families, please have your child meet us for warm-up promptly at 1:15 p.m. in the cafeteria.  We perform at 1:30 p.m. and have two short choral selections to sing.  We will be in uniform for this special event.  The uniform includes the official red choir shirt, full length black slacks or full length black jeans (no leggings please), black socks, and mostly black shoes.  If long enough, girls need to pull their hair back for the performance (cute bows are allowed).

The DPES Children's Choir will have their first performance of the year on Friday, December 8th at Tomball United Methodist Church.  Please join us outside at TUMC's first ever 'Trail of Lights' event.  The choir will sing at 6:00 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m.  See you soon!
