#ReverseTheFee (Remind v Verizon)

We’re thrilled to share the news: Thanks to you, Verizon has informed us that they will #ReverseTheFee. As a result, we can continue to offer text notifications as part of the Remind service. There will be no service disruption for Verizon Wireless customers.

We’re grateful to Verizon for making a commitment to support accessible communication for all Remind users. You can read more here: https://www.remind.com/blog/verizon-update.

Thank you so much for your patience and support.

Ropers Perform at High School Basketball Halftime

Ropers- Our next performance will be on Friday February 1st at the Tomball High School Girls Basketball game.  We will jump rope at half time.  Please arrive at 6:45  pm at Tomball High School in your Roper uniform.  Your Roper uniform is the Roper shirt, Black shorts (dress code appropriate) and tennis shoes.  If your hair is long enough, please pull it back in a ponytail or out of your face.  You will not need your single speed rope because we will be performing Double Dutch. Parents and Siblings will have to pay to get into the game and watch. It cost $3 for adults and $2 for children.

Changes to Remind

From Remind:

We’re sorry to write with disappointing news. Recently, we learned that Verizon will be charging Remind a new fee that makes it impossible for us to continue supporting free text messaging for anyone who has Verizon Wireless as their phone carrier. Please read on for all the important details—we promise to keep this as short as we can.

What’s happening?
To offer our text messaging service free of charge, Remind has always paid for each text that our users receive or send. Now, Verizon is charging Remind an additional fee intended for companies that send spam over its network. Your Remind messages aren’t spam, but our efforts to resolve the issue with Verizon haven’t been successful.

As a result, the Verizon fee will increase our costs of providing text messaging by 11X—pushing our annual costs into the millions of dollars. This isn’t financially feasible for us to support, and it’s forcing us to end Remind text messaging for everyone who has a wireless plan with Verizon.

How will this affect you?
Beginning January 28, 2019, the people in your classes who normally get your Remind messages as texts will no longer receive these messages if they have Verizon Wireless as their phone carrier.

What can you do?
To make sure people in your classes continue receiving your messages, ask them to download the mobile app or enable email notifications—both of which are free of charge. Our team’s also working hard on a solution that allows your classes to continue to use Remind by text, and we’ll share more details with you before January 28.

Sincerely,
The Remind team

Ropers' Halftime Performance

The Ropers will be performing at THS girls' basketball game halftime on Tuesday January 30.  The Varsity game starts at 6:00 so we need all Ropers there at that time.  We are estimating halftime to be around 6:30.  Once halftime is over, Ropers will be dismissed to go home or stay and watch the rest of the game.  Parents, siblings and guests will have to pay admission to the game.
Ropers will be dressed in their Roper t-shirt, black athletic shorts and tennis shoes.  They will not need their own rope. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Tomball Holiday Parade November 18

Ropers-

Our first performance is Saturday November 18th. We will be marching in the Tomball Holiday parade. You need to be at First Baptist Church at 8:15 am. We can’t park at the church so drop your child off with us and park somewhere else. They will be towing cars that are parked in off limit parking spots. If you have questions ask one of us. We have to be lined up by 8:45 in our assigned line up space. We will have to leave the church no later than 8:35 to find our assigned space—DON’T BE LATE!!!!!!!

If you are late, we will try to have a parent at the church to walk the kids down to our parade entry. We are number 48 on Commerce Street between N. Cherry and N. Elm.

Please sign up for Remind if you haven’t already. It will be the best way to communicate with us.

The parade starts at 10:00 and usually takes about an hour for us to get to the end. You need to pick your child up in the HEB parking lot when we are finished, not when the parade is over.

If you would like to walk with us in the parade, let us know-the more the merrier.

Please let us know ahead of time if your Roper CAN NOT attend the parade on the 18th.

 Thanks,

Mrs. Anderson and Ms. Sandoz

Tomball Holiday Parade

The Ropers will be participating in the 2017 Tomball Holiday Parade on Saturday November 18.  Please check your calendars and let us know as soon as possible if your child will be able to jump down Main Street.  We will share more details as we get closer to the date.

Our first Roper practice is tomorrow Wednesday September 27 at 8:00 in the gym.  You will need to drop your child off at the back door (where the buses load).  Please be prompt since buses will show up between 8:05-8:10, and we can not have cars in the way.
