Students & Families

Curriculum
All grade levels instruct the students in the areas of Language Arts (Reading, Language, Handwriting, Spelling), Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Students also receive instruction in Music, Physical Education, Art, Technology, and weekly visits to the library. 
 
Lunch
Parents are welcome to have lunch with their children in the school cafeteria. Before joining your child for lunch, please sign in upon arrival at the front office and sign out upon leaving.

Visitors
All visitors are required to ring the bell and present their driver's license to the camera located in the door.  The receptionist will greet you, ask you to identify yourself and your reason for the visit and will then unlock the door.  All visitors will proceed to the front office upon entering the building. Guests must sign in and wear a "visitor" tag in order to enter any hallway. Driver's license must be presented.

Report Cards
Report cards are distributed each nine weeks. Kindergarten and first grade reports are in checklist profile format. Second, third and fourth grade report cards include numerical grades in the basic subject area.

Newsletter
A weekly school newsletter will be posted to the school website.  

Transportation
Transportation is provided by the Tomball Independent School District. For busing information please call 281-357-3193.
Please make sure your child knows how he or she is going home. If your child is to change regular transportation, a note must be submitted in the morning to the front office giving him or her permission.
 
Medicine
If your child requires medication, please hand deliver it to the nurse's office. Medicine must be in its original container and clearly labeled with the child's name. If a change in medication administration is required, please submit it in writing.
 
Dress Code
Please be aware of how your child is dressed for school. It is important that they be comfortable in order to learn. The specific dress code is located in the Elementary Handbook for Students and Parents. When attending Physical Education, appropriate athletic shoes are required.

Inclement Weather & Disasters
Listed below are radio and TV stations parents can listen to for emergency information to determine if school will be held in the event of inclement weather or disasters:
Television: KPRC, Channel 2
Radio: KTRH, 740 AM
 
Decker Prairie PTO
If you haven't joined yet please become a member of the Decker Prairie PTO.  This group organizes many fundraisers and activities that benefit our school and students.  We couldn't do it without them!  Please contact the school for more information.
